Long Journey to Egypt~Just for one Hadith

Long Journey to Egypt~Just for one Hadith.

Abu Khaithama narrated to us, saying: Hushaim reported to us, saying: Sayaar reported to us from Jareer Ibn Hayyaan that he said:

"A man  traveled to Egypt just for this one hadeeth and he did not stop his journey to settle down, until he returned back to his home.
(The hadeeth was) 'Whosoever conceals (the faults of) his brother in this world, Allaah will conceal his faults on the Day of Judgement.'"

He is 'Uqbah Ibn 'Aamir and he traveled to see Maslama Ibn Mukhallid, who was in charge of Egypt (at that time) as occurs in the Musnad.

The longest journey for seeking knowledge

(The longest journey for seeking knowledge in the history)

The Last of the Travellers:

In 395/1005 died Ibn Mandah, 'the last of the travellers', that is to say, the most famous of those who travelled about the empire to hear traditions. He collected 1700 traditions and brought home 40 camel loads of books.

Muhammad Ibn Ishâq Ibn Mandah(m.395):
