Take advantage of five blessings before you are deprived

(Take advantage of five blessings before you are deprived)

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him,
said to a man–and he was admonishing him,

“Take advantage of five before five:
your youth before your old age,
your health before your illness,
your riches before your poverty,
your leisure before your work,
and your life before your death.”

[Al-Bayhaqi, Sha’b Al-Iman, Number 9575, Sahih]

Useful knowledge

(Useful knowledge)

"Useful knowledge is that which makes you grow in the fear of Allah,
increases you in awareness of your defects,
deepens your knowledge of the worship of your Lord Most High,
decreases your desire for this world and increases your desire for the life to come,  and opens your eyes to the defects of your actions so that you guard against them."

The foundation of knowledge is the fear of Allah

(The foundation of knowledge is the fear of Allah)

Imaam Ahmad, may Allaah have mercy upon him, used to say about Ma’ruf:

He possesses the foundation of knowledge: the fear of Allaah
’Therefore the foundation of knowledge is that
knowledge which leads to fearing Him, loving Him,
drawing close to Him, taking comfort with Him, and ardently desiring Him.
Then this is followed by knowledge of the rulings of Allaah,
all that He loves and is pleased with from the servant
of statement, action, spiritual condition, and belief.
Whoever realises these two types of knowledge
has found beneficial knowledge;
he has attained beneficial knowledge, a fearful heart,
a content soul, and a supplication responded to.

Long Journey to Egypt~Just for one Hadith

Long Journey to Egypt~Just for one Hadith.

Abu Khaithama narrated to us, saying: Hushaim reported to us, saying: Sayaar reported to us from Jareer Ibn Hayyaan that he said:

"A man  traveled to Egypt just for this one hadeeth and he did not stop his journey to settle down, until he returned back to his home.
(The hadeeth was) 'Whosoever conceals (the faults of) his brother in this world, Allaah will conceal his faults on the Day of Judgement.'"

He is 'Uqbah Ibn 'Aamir and he traveled to see Maslama Ibn Mukhallid, who was in charge of Egypt (at that time) as occurs in the Musnad.

The longest journey for seeking knowledge

(The longest journey for seeking knowledge in the history)

The Last of the Travellers:

In 395/1005 died Ibn Mandah, 'the last of the travellers', that is to say, the most famous of those who travelled about the empire to hear traditions. He collected 1700 traditions and brought home 40 camel loads of books.

IBN MANDA, Muhammad bin Ishaq:

Abu ‘Abdullah, Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Muhammad bin Yahya bin Manda was born in 310 H And was a Hafidh, an Imam and a traveller. He was also one of the eminent scholars who mastered many Hadeeth. It is said that he travelled all over the Muslim world of his time and returned with about forty loads of books and his teachers were one thousand seven hundred. Ibn Manda died in Dhul-Hijja 395H.

Muhammad Ibn Ishâq Ibn Mandah(m.395):

'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As(May Allah be pleased with them)reported:
I heard the Messenger of Allah sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) saying:

“Verily Allah will not seize knowledge by suddenly dispossessing it from his bondsmen.
However, he will seize knowledge through the seizure of the Ulama (through their demise)
until there will come a time where not a single Scholar will remain and the masses will take the ignorant as their leaders.
They will ask them and they will issue verdicts without any knowledge; thus, they will themselves be misguided and will misguide others.”

'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As(May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) saying:

"Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people,
but He takes it away by taking away (the lives of) the religious scholars
till none of the scholars stays alive.
Then the people will take ignorant ones as their leaders,
who, when asked to deliver religious verdicts, will issue them without knowledge, the result being that they will go astray and will lead others astray."
